Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policies

Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Compliance
It is the policy of Colgate University not to discriminate against any person on the basis of their race, color, creed, religion, age, sex, pregnancy, national origin, marital status, disability, protected Veteran Status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, genetic information, status as victims of domestic violence and stalking, familial status, and all other categories covered by law. These policies shall apply also to all employment actions, including but not limited to recruitment, hiring, upgrading, promotion, transfer, demotion, layoff, recall, termination, rates of pay or other forms of compensation and selection for training at all levels of employment. Colgate University will not discharge or discriminate against employees or applicants who inquire about, discuss, or disclose their own compensation or the compensation of another employee or applicant.

Disabilities Compliance
The Executive Director of Student Disability Services (Office of Student Disability Services; 315-228-6161) is responsible for coordinating efforts to comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA, including evaluation of student accommodation requests for academic and housing adjustments. Procedures for requesting these types of accommodations or adjustments are described in the Student Handbook. Complaints regarding disability-related discrimination or harassment should be directed to the Director for Diversity and Equity (Office of Equity and Diversity; 315-228-7207).
Title IX Compliance
In compliance with requirements under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Colgate University does not discriminate on the basis of sex or gender in its educational programs and activities. The University’s Title IX Coordinator, Amy Gordon (102 Lathrop Hall; 315-228-7014) oversees the University’s Policy on Sex/Gender-based Misconduct.
