BIOL 478 - Animal Systematics, Phylogeny, and Development This research tutorial exposes students to the theory and practice of systematics and their application to the study of animal ecology and evolution; it also provides experience in developmental genetics. Topics include life history evolution of marine invertebrates, biogeography of deep-sea hot vent animals, and the developmental evolution of animal body plans. In the laboratory, students pursue independent research projects using molecular techniques, and phylogenetic analytical methods.
