HIST 370 - The Mongol Empire (TR) Traces the origins and impact of the greatest land empire in history. Late in the 12th century, Ghenghis Khan unified the steppe and assembled an awesome military force. During the next decades, the Mongols conquered most of Eurasia. Students examine steppe military traditions, relations between the steppe and the sown, and the establishment of the Mongol empire. Drawing on eyewitness accounts, historical chronicles, art, and modern scholarship, students explore Mongol methods of rulership in the Middle East, East Asia, and Inner Asia and how a century of Mongol domination reshaped world history.
