NASC 150 - Math and Music Students take an analytical look at the music system we know. For example, how exactly is a middle-C note defined? Why does a C-note sound different on a piano and a guitar? Why are there 12 notes in an octave, and what is the spacing between the notes? What happens if we change this space? Students investigate and answer these and many more questions. They also explore some mathematical rubrics for creating music.
