MATH 460 - Hilbert and Banach Spaces Introduces the notions of Hilbert and Banach spaces. A thorough understanding of these types of spaces is crucial in several areas of mathematics and applied mathematics. For example, quantum theory can be formulated in terms of operators on infinite dimensional Hilbert spaces. Students are also introduced to the notion of frames. In finite dimensions frames are spanning sets for a vector space.
