ALST 220 - The Black Diaspora: Africans at Home and Abroad Focuses on the African presence in the Americas. It examines the responses of Africans and their descendants to the experiences of enslavement, racism, colonialism, and imperialism from the fifteenth century to the present; and analyzes the impact of the African presence on western “civilization.” It also explores the evolution of an African identity, particularly, an identification with the destiny of the African continent among African descendants in the Diaspora.
