ENST 200 - Environmental Science: Challenges and Solutions Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary field that develops scientific and analytical tools for assessing and mitigating human impacts on the environment. Students are provided an overview of the discipline in the context of the interconnected global earth system: the atmosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere. Students are introduced to scientific methods from physics, chemistry, geology, and biology that are used to examine real-world case studies. Topics may include: climate change and its cascading impacts, and the effects on environmental quality, biodiversity, and human health. During weekly fieldwork and laboratory sessions, students gain hands-on experience in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data that can be used to understand and address environmental issues.
