ALST 410 - Capstone: Intellectual and Community Empowerment Provides majors and minors a curricular space to design and carry out research within Africana & Latin American Studies. Taught by members of the program’s faculty, students focus on community engagement, interdisciplinarity, and intellectual expansion. While the topic of the capstone seminar will depend on the instructor, student projects are framed as an intervention in or in service of Black and Latinx studies and communities. ALST capstone projects may vary in form–for example, a presentation, artistic project or performance, educational curriculum, portfolio, or thesis; regardless of the format, significant research and critical thinking that showcase the knowledge and skills that students have developed through their program of study is required.
