ARTH 277 - Modern Architecture 1880-1970

Focuses on the emergence of a self-consciously modern architecture in European and the United States at the turn of the 20th Century, follows its maturation in the interwar period, and explores its international proliferation following World War II. Students become familiar with many key buildings and architects as well as the theory associated with them. All students execute three projects during the course of the semester in which they study and emulate the design strategies of select major modern architects.
