GEOG 122 - The City In 2007, according to the United Nations, cities for the first time became the home of the majority of the world’s people. Others have called the 21st century “the urban century.” There has never been a more important time to study urban places and processes. Students are introduced to major theories and concepts of urban geography and to the ways in which they help understand cities and urbanization around the world. In doing so, it also provides an introduction to geography as a discipline and to its distinctive perspectives, which include space and location; global, regional, and local scales of analysis; nature-society relations; and the multidimensional character of places.
