SPAN 467 - Latin American Romanticism Examines the rise of Romantic modes of expression in 19th-century Latin American letters. Works are studied in the context of the continent’s struggle for political and cultural independence, anti-slavery sentiment, political dissent and the experience of exile, and the project of nation building.
