BIOL 371 - Molecular Ecology

This course explores the fundamentals of population biology, the molecular methods used to measure critical parameters, and the application of these concepts and techniques to current problems in ecology and evolution. Using detailed case studies from organisms as diverse as dolphins, birds, ants, and humans, students discuss the mechanisms driving ecological and evolutionary patterns. The case studies have been selected to demonstrate the variety of techniques involved in current molecular ecology research from observational studies to gene expression studies.
