PHIL 228 - Philosophy of Science This course is an introduction to the philosophy of science and explores issues of general philosophical interest to the sciences, rather than those germane to any particular discipline. The course focuses on the rise and decline of logical positivism and the status of its post-positivist descendants with particular emphasis on the issues of scientific laws, induction, theory confirmation and choice, falsificationism, reductionism, realism, explanation, prediction, and problems relevant to the special sciences.
