SOCI 213 - Coming of Age in Unequal World

This course critically investigates how power, privilege, and oppression influence the coming of age experiences of young people from diverse backgrounds. Using sociological theories and intergroup dialogue (IGD) techniques, students will grapple with the causes and consequences of inequality in early life. IGD blends theory and experiential learning to promote understanding, communication, and alliance building across differences. The course culminates with a portfolio assignment that asks students to develop and co-facilitate an IGD workshop with community members.
